A picture is worth a thousand words—and that’s certainly true when it comes to taking care of your teeth and gums. That’s why one of the tools of the trade here at Metropolitan Dental is an intra-oral camera.

This tiny video camera, mounted on the end of a pen-sized wand, takes pictures inside your mouth that help our dentists document and diagnose your dental conditions. We store these images in your electronic chart as a baseline for planning and monitoring your long-term care.

Best of all, because the camera is linked to our computer system, you can tour along with us on your overhead monitor! Giving you a dentist’s-eye view of what’s going on makes it easy for Dr. Walters and Dr. Kaplan to point out any problems and explain the best options for treatment.

Our hygienists love it because they can show you areas of your teeth and gums that need extra attention during your daily cleaning routine—and even demonstrate ways to improve your brushing and flossing.

Besides, it’s pretty cool seeing the inside of your own mouth.
